what's your favorite venue in LA? There are so many to choose from!

I like the Troubadour, Echo, Fonda, El Rey (though El Rey is kind of far for anyone not on the west side...) and the GLASS HOUSE (gets no love on the concert listing board...why??).

the glass house gets no love? why do you say that??

my favorite would have to be ... none of them in los angeles, or california for that matter. but if I have to choose, I'd say the El Rey or Glass House. Only cause they have the best bands come to them.

Echo, Fonda.. because of that rooftop patio it rocks.

Troubadour
Henry Fonda (they need to lose the rail, though)
Avalon (ditto)
Hollywood Bowl
Empire Polo Fields

Never been to El Rey.

To hell with the Echo...always too far from wherever I live and I'd probably be supporting gentrification by going.

The Greek is nice, but $15 for parking last time pissed me off, because all we had was $13 and the nazis wouldn't take it, so we had to park a long ways away and march uphill for half an hour, and I tripped.

I don't ever see Glass House shows listed on the concert listing page.

Echo is closer to me and i'd rather support gentrification that a huge corporate monster bringing Maroon 5 to the Staples Center (I can't believe my bf wants to go to that....Hives might make me cave in though...)

Agree on the Greek. Parking, especially stacked parking, sucks. Venue is only nice if you have pit or Section A tix though. Same reason i hate the Bowl, i never sit anywhere close...

Your boyfriend wants to see Maroon 5? That's grounds for a breakup. Ugh.

The Echo will forever be a favorite of mine.

I love the Hollywood Bowl for its scenery and acoustics, but I like smaller settings.

Probably the Fonda and the El Rey.

says the man that went to see Tiffany as his first concert ;) there are worse things than Maroon 5 out there and the videos are pretty funny. Just saw the announcement for the Hives at the Avalon though so I'm getting out of this one.

I thought the Greek was totally fine from the front and the back of section B. It's like an intimate Hollywood Bowl. I love it.

El Rey is my favorite, for sure.

I also like Troubadour, Knitting Factory, and The Greek & Hollywood Bowl (minus the parking and location for those last two).

Dodger Stadium can eat my ass, though.

Hah I never even remember that Dodger Stadium can be a concert venue.

Troub is my favorite, followed by El Rey and the Greek. Viper Room is pretty rad too. And House of Blues but only when you're rolling VIP style. That place is gigantic.

Troubadour has been my favorite for a while. Second is El Rey. Most venues annoy me, actually. Not a fan of the Fonda or Wiltern. I feel as if I'm cursed at the wiltern. I'm always getting hurt there.

same here. i think a friend was trying to talk me into going to see Kiss and the Smashing Pumpkins there (he WAS a huge SP fan back in the day) and i politely declined. he called me the next day PISSED because he spent well over an hour trying to park and ended up walking in when the lights came on AFTER the Pumpkins played.

The Troubadour has pretty much been my favorite forever, but I also love The Orpheum, The Greek, and The Glass House.

Dodger Stadium can also eat my ass. That place is the third circle of hell. I don't even know WHY I went to see The Police THERE this summer...

I see there's a new venue in LA (Crash mansion). Anyone been to it? I read capacity is 1200, so this would make it about the same size as the Fonda and the Avalon, right? Anyone know the easiest way to see a venue capacity comparison for LA-area venues?

I have not been to the Crash Mansion, although my curiosity is piqued.

I have a special fondness for The Smell, despite it being in a sketchy neighborhood and not having a liquor license and generally being smelly.

mine would be safari sams, the hotel cafe, and amobea records.... oh and the troubadour is quite nice, but nothing beats SF venues like the fillmore, the warfield, bottom of the hill, slims and the great american music hall....

The El Rey, The Fonda, and the Wiltern.

And of course the Hollywood Bowl.

The Greek is great if you have pit tickets...

The Troub is a classic, despite the crap parking. Fonda has the best patio. I spend a lot of time at Spaceland, love that indoor smoking lounge (even though i don't smoke)

I used to like the Sunset clubs (Whiskey, Viper, Key) but they haven't been pulling in acts I like recently, and seem to be a little too full of themselves

Safari Sams is fun, but is like a sauna in the summer

El Rey is nice, especially since they re-decorated about a year ago

LA has lots of great small venues if you ask me.

Favorite LA venue by far - The Troubadour

Its my cheers - you know, "where everybody knows my name"
came close to having most faxed ticket orders there in 06/07

followed by the Fonda

i think you misread that. i LOVE the GlassHouse, i just wonder why the shows are almost never listed on the front page since it's a goldenvoice venue (hence the "no love" comment).

Oh I understand now ... I wish the Glass House would be featured more too

(glasshouse) it's not technically a goldenvoice venue. It is not booked or run through goldenvoice. sometimes we help them by mentioning a show there on our site, but they are usually not goldenvoice shows.

After last week's Royksopp show, you can add Club Nokia. My experience has been hit and miss with the last few shows I attended, but that night was just magical!

Personally, my favorite venue is The Station in Rhode Island. Everytime I play there, I swear it’s like the place is on fire or something!
